Maintenance Issues Of Stage Trusses
Leave a message
Stage truss is designed for repeated use, but every assembly, event and transport cycle can affect its condition. A simple maintenance program helps rental companies identify damage before the next project and keeps sections, connectors and accessories organized.
Maintenance does not increase the certified capacity of a truss or repair structural damage automatically. Any questionable component should be removed from service and assessed by a qualified person before reuse.
Inspect the Truss After Every Project
Check the main chords, diagonal braces, weld areas and end connections under good lighting. Look for visible deformation, cracks, dents, deep scratches, damaged holes, loose parts and unusual movement at the joints.
Spigots, pins, R-clips, bolts and nuts should be counted and examined separately. Worn or mismatched connection parts should not be forced into the truss. Replacement parts must match the original system and manufacturer specification.
Cleaning Aluminum Stage Truss
Remove dust, mud, tape residue and event debris using a soft cloth or non-abrasive cleaning method suitable for the surface finish. Avoid aggressive chemicals, grinding or unapproved repairs that may hide damage or alter the aluminum surface.
After outdoor use, allow the truss to dry completely before packing. Pay particular attention to connection areas where moisture and dirt can remain trapped.
Storage and Transport Protection
Store truss in a dry, organized area with suitable support beneath long sections. Separate different sizes and connection systems, and protect finished surfaces from direct contact with sharp steel parts.
During transport, secure the load so sections cannot slide or strike each other. Use suitable packing between layers and place pins, clips and small accessories in labelled containers.
When a Truss Should Be Removed from Service
Do not use a section when there is visible cracking, significant deformation, a damaged connection, a questionable weld or any condition outside the manufacturer's acceptance criteria. Do not heat, straighten or weld a structural repair on site without an approved procedure.
