Large Event Tent Installation Process | Aluminum Structure & Fabric Roof Setup

Returning Client Visits On-Site Installation of Roof Truss System

Today was another on-site installation day with one of our returning clients visiting to observe the assembly process together with our technical team.

The product being installed was an aluminum roof truss system designed for outdoor event coverage, combined with a 450g black PVC roof fabric. This type of temporary event structure is widely used for concerts, festivals, exhibitions, commercial activities, and outdoor event spaces where weather protection and structural stability are both important.

In this article, we mainly focus on the installation workflow and on-site assembly details, including aluminum frame positioning, roof fabric pulling, side wall installation, fixing points, waterproof overlap, and final inspection.

The client had previously purchased our aluminum truss systems and recently expanded the order to include this roof truss structure. This visit allowed the client to observe the complete setup process in person and understand how the structure is assembled step by step.

During the installation, our technicians demonstrated the workflow on site and explained the key points directly. This kind of face-to-face communication helps clients better understand installation logic, safety details, and practical operation methods for future projects.

PVC Roof Fabric Installation on Aluminum Roof Truss System

Once the aluminum roof truss structure was fully assembled, the next step was positioning and installing the PVC roof fabric according to the exact length and width of the roof system.

Before pulling the fabric into place, the technical team carefully aligned the 450g black PVC tent cover with the roof truss frame. The installation direction, edge position, and tension points must match the frame correctly before the pulling process begins.

Proper alignment is especially important for large event tent installation. If the fabric is pulled from the wrong angle or unevenly distributed, it may create wrinkles, difficult fixing points, poor tension, or water drainage problems after installation.

The roof fabric installation process requires coordinated teamwork. One person alone should not pull the PVC fabric from the opposite side, because uneven force may damage the material or make the installation harder to control.

A better method is to have three to four technicians stand in a straight line along the side of the structure, applying balanced pulling force together while slowly guiding the roof fabric across the aluminum truss frame. This allows the heavy-duty PVC cover to move smoothly and evenly over the roof structure.

Midway Stage of PVC Roof Fabric Installation

When the roof fabric reaches the halfway stage, additional technicians are needed on both sides of the roof structure to assist with guiding and positioning the PVC cover.

At this point, the fabric is gradually passed across the top of the aluminum roof truss system from one side to the other. The process is similar to a controlled handover along the entire roof line, where each worker helps guide the material forward step by step.

This step should not be done with sudden pulling or excessive force. The PVC roof fabric should move steadily across the frame to avoid stress on the material, uneven tension, or movement of the structure.

During installation, the centerline of the roof structure is a key reference point. It helps the team judge whether the fabric is evenly distributed on both sides. When the fabric reaches a balanced position, the following tensioning and fixing work becomes easier and more accurate.

Structural Fixing and Tension Control of Roof Fabric System

After the length direction is properly positioned, the next step is to adjust and tension the width of the PVC fabric. The material is pulled outward on both sides and secured onto the outermost pipes of the aluminum roof truss structure.

For this temporary on-site installation, cable ties were used as the fastening method. For standard commercial events such as concerts, exhibitions, festivals, and outdoor public activities, professional-grade fastening ropes or heavy-duty cable ties should be selected according to the project requirement.

The fixing points are typically arranged along the outermost truss pipes, with spacing of approximately 30-40 cm between each connection point. This helps distribute the tension evenly across the roof surface.

Even spacing is important because it reduces local stress on the fabric and keeps the roof cover tighter and cleaner after installation. A well-tensioned PVC roof also improves water drainage and wind resistance for outdoor use.

Each aluminum roof truss system and PVC roof fabric cover should be made according to the project size. Accurate length and width matching allow the roof structure and fabric to fit together properly during installation.

PVC Side Wall Installation on Aluminum Roof Truss System

After the roof fabric has been securely fixed onto the top of the aluminum roof truss structure, the next step is side wall fabric installation.

Compared with the roof installation process, this stage is more straightforward. The PVC side curtain fabric is first unfolded completely and then positioned according to the pre-designed frame layout of the temporary event structure.

Once aligned, the side fabric is gradually placed along the side sections of the aluminum truss system and secured at the designated fixing points. This helps the side enclosure follow the structure lines clearly without distortion or uneven tension.

Although this step looks simple, proper alignment still matters. Correct positioning of the side PVC fabric helps complete the enclosure, improves the overall appearance, and supports better wind resistance for outdoor events.

Waterproof Connection System for PVC Roof Fabric Joints

After the main structure and roof fabric installation were completed, our technical team also explained the auxiliary fixing accessories to the client, including truss fabric securing straps and the waterproof Velcro overlap flap used for roof connections.

This waterproof flap is not just a simple fixing strip. It is designed for multi-panel PVC roof fabric connection systems in large aluminum roof truss structures. Its main function is to cover and protect the fabric joint lines where two or more roof sections meet.

By overlapping the connection seams, the waterproof flap helps block rainwater penetration. Instead of allowing water to collect or seep through the joint area, the flap guides water along the roof surface so it can drain away more naturally.

This type of sealing detail is widely used in outdoor event structures such as stage roof systems, music festival tents, exhibition event spaces, and wedding tent setups. When combined with fabric fixing straps and Velcro-based connection systems, it improves the overall weather resistance of the temporary event tent system.

Final Inspection and Interior View of Roof Fabric Installation

After the PVC roof fabric installation was completed, the team checked the structure from inside the event tent system.

From the interior view, the roof fabric is evenly tensioned across the whole span. The PVC cover sits flat and smooth, with no obvious wrinkles or sagging areas. This shows that the roof fabric has reached a good installation condition.

Proper tension distribution is important for both appearance and structural performance. When the fabric is tight and evenly fixed, wind load can be transferred more evenly through the aluminum roof truss frame.

Water drainage is another key point. If the PVC roof fabric is too loose, rainwater may collect on the surface and create water pockets. When the roof fabric is properly tensioned, rainwater can flow along the roof slope more smoothly, reducing the risk of ponding.

This is the ideal installation result for professional aluminum roof truss systems used in outdoor events, where both visual appearance and structural reliability are important.

Why On-Site Demonstration Matters for Clients

This project was not only an installation demonstration. It was also a process of technical communication, solution discussion, and practical training with the client.

From structural selection to fabric fixing and final inspection, the client was able to observe the real workflow and ask questions directly. This helps build a clearer understanding of the product and reduces uncertainty before future use.

For large event structures, drawings and product photos are useful, but seeing the actual installation process gives clients a much better understanding of how the system works on site.

Face-to-face communication also allows the technical team to explain small but important details, such as pulling direction, fixing spacing, fabric tension, waterproof overlap, and inspection points.

Conclusion

A large event tent or roof truss structure depends on more than the aluminum frame itself. The final result is affected by fabric matching, pulling direction, fixing method, tension control, waterproof joint design, and final inspection.

This on-site installation showed how an aluminum roof truss system and 450g black PVC roof fabric can be assembled into a stable temporary event structure for outdoor use.

For concerts, festivals, exhibitions, commercial activities, and temporary outdoor projects, a properly designed roof truss and fabric system can provide weather protection, clean appearance, and reliable structural support.
